WinHex 14.9

Corel WordPerfect offers a neat tool called the Shape Tool. This tool allows you to draw different types of shapes in your document. You select the shape you want to draw and then draw it using your mouse. You can then change the color of the shape. In this tutorial, I will show you how to use the Shape Tool in Corel WordPerfect.

Creating a New Document to Work On

We will first begin by creating a new document to work on in Corel WordPerfect. When you load your WordPerfect program a new document should automatically be created. If you are already working in the program, you will need to create a new document.

Selecting the Shape Tool in Corel WordPerfect

Next, we will select the shape tool and the shape we want to draw. Go to the top of WordPerfect and click Insert > Shapes. That will then open the shapes box. In this box, you will need to select the type of shape you want to draw. In the box, you will see the different shapes and a circle beside each one. Tick the circle of the shape you want to use and then click the little box at the bottom. The box at the bottom will give you more options for the shape you chose. You can select the shape of your choice by clicking the option in the box that opened. Once you have chosen your shape, click the OK button.

Drawing and Editing Your Shape in Corel WordPerfect

Now that you have selected your shape, you can draw it on your document. Using your mouse, click it and draw the shape on your document. You can draw it anywhere you like and you can draw it any size you like.

Now you can edit your shape. To edit the size of the shape, use your mouse and grab a corner of the box. Then drag the corner inward to make it smaller or outward to make it larger. You can also change the color of the shape. Click the shape to select it. Then go to the top of your program and click the second paint bucket in the toolbar. When you click the bucket, you will see a color palette open. In the color palette, you will need to click the color you wish to change the shape too. The box will then close and color of the shape will be changed. You can also move your shapes around your document by grabbing it and dragging it to where you want it.

If you wish to draw more shapes, you will need to click Insert > Shapes and go through that process again. Then you can draw more shapes on your document.

Adobe has fixed that critical flaw that afflicted so many versions of Flash. So if you’re interested in not being on the wrong end of a malicious attack you would do well to upgrade to the latest version of Flash, version 10.1.

The update brings an additional 32 fixes to various issues afflicting Flash.

The update is available for all versions of Flash, so this isn’t an example of Windows users getting an update then the rest of the world has to wait.

Of note: there’s still vulnerabilities in Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat, which means that malicious PDFs (yes, they exist) can still affect you. Adobe says it will release a fix later this month.

The wonders of closed-source software!

This probably isn't going to help Adobe's case when its arguing for Flash on the iPhone, but the company has announced that there is a critical vulnerability in Adobe Flash Player, Reader and Acrobat for Windows, Mac, Linux and Solaris, one that could potentially allow the attacker to take control of the affected system, ouch! To make things worse Adobe doesn't have an actual fix available just yet, though some workarounds have been suggested. Versions of Adobe Flash affected include 10.0.45.2, 9.0.262, 10.0.x and 9.0.x., Adobe Reader and Acrobat 9.3.2 and earlier 9.x versions are also affected. Full details are available on Adobe's announcement page.
